Carolyn began her career in the for-profit world managing the sales and marketing efforts of a software development firm. She grew this company into a multi-million dollar firm that still exists as the largest privately held in its market. Carolyn has since worked in the management of non-profits and served in leadership positions for health, social justice and arts and culture non-profits. Carolyn serves on the boards of a number of non-profits in the community, is a member of Nexus Women's Business Alliance and has served as a mentor in the Greater Des Moines Community Foundation's Community Connect program and the New Leadership Council.

AJ Simmons

DESIGNER / DIGITAL MEDIA STRATEGIST

A young man with an old time rock ‘n’ roll soul. He obtained his undergraduate degree in Graphic Design from FIDM of Los Angeles in 2012. Post-graduation he worked freelance in the entertainment industry designing movie posters, shooting action-sports photography, and molding boutique brands. After a year of looking out at the waves of the Pacific, he longed for the waves of corn, and relocated back home to the heartland. Once back in Iowa, he embarked on a fresh career plan with the media giant Gannett. He spent 5 years with that team specializing in the delivery and design of mass digital content with clients from all over the US. His expertise in all things digital, social, and strategical makes him a welcome addition to the new world of innovation Speak PR is creating.
